Signing In to the NISC Mustering System
Overview
The Sign In page is the entry point to the NISC Mustering System. This guide explains how to sign in with your email and password, how to use the dark/light mode toggle, what error messages mean, and what happens when your session expires.
Prerequisites
- A valid email address and password issued by your system administrator
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari — latest versions)
- Network access to the system URL
How to Sign In
Open your browser and go to the NISC Mustering System URL.
The Sign In page shows two panels:
- On the left: the NISC brand panel with the company logo and "Mustering System" label
- On the right: the sign-in form
In the Email field, type your full email address (for example,
you@nisc.coop).In the Password field, type your password. Click the eye icon on the right side of the field to show or hide the characters as you type.
Click the Sign In button, or press Enter on your keyboard.
If your credentials are correct, you will be taken to the Dashboard.
Tip: The Sign In button is disabled until both the email and password fields contain text. If the button appears greyed out, make sure both fields are filled in.
Signing In with Microsoft (SSO)
If your organisation has configured Microsoft single sign-on, a Sign in with Microsoft button appears above the email/password form. Click it to authenticate through your organisation's Microsoft account rather than entering a separate password.
Note: SSO availability depends on your organisation's configuration. If you do not see the Microsoft button, your site uses email and password authentication only.
Dark Mode and Light Mode
A small toggle button is located in the top-right corner of the sign-in form panel. It shows a moon icon (switch to dark mode) or a sun icon (switch to light mode).
- Click the moon or sun icon to switch between dark and light appearance.
- Your preference is saved and will be remembered after you log in.
Note: The dark/light setting you choose on the login page applies across the whole application once you are signed in.
Error Messages
The following error messages may appear on the Sign In page:
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Invalid username or password" | The email or password you entered does not match any account | Check for typing errors, then try again. If the problem continues, contact your administrator to reset your password. |
| "Network error. Please check your connection." | The browser cannot reach the server | Check your internet or network connection and try again. |
| "Password change required before continuing." | Your account requires a new password to be set | You will be redirected to the Change Password page automatically. See Profile and Account for instructions. |
| "Email is required" or "Password is required" | A field was left blank or contains invalid text | Fill in the highlighted field and try again. |
Session Expiry
Your login session has a 24-hour duration. After 24 hours of inactivity, or if you close your browser and reopen it after the session has expired, the system will redirect you back to the Sign In page.
Note: Any work in progress (for example, an unsaved form) will be lost when your session expires. Save your changes regularly.
If you are redirected to the Sign In page unexpectedly mid-session, this can sometimes occur after a network interruption. Sign in again and navigate back to where you were.
Signing Out
You can sign out at any time:
- Click your initials button in the top-right corner of the header bar.
- In the dropdown menu, click Logout.
You will be taken back to the Sign In page and your session will be cleared.
Troubleshooting
The Sign In button stays greyed out even though I have filled in both fields. The email field requires a valid email format (for example, name@domain.com). If your email address contains a typo such as a missing @ symbol, the form will not enable the button. Re-check your entry.
I entered my password but the field shows an error immediately. The password field validates that it is not empty. If you see an error right away, try clicking inside the field, typing your password, then clicking Sign In.
The page loads but the form never appears. This can happen if JavaScript is disabled in your browser, or if there is a network problem loading page assets. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) or try a different browser.
I keep getting "Network error" even though my internet is working. The system server may be temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem persists, contact your NISC administrator.
